I was a student at the course "Free Art and New Media" the first year 1995-1996. And one of my projects vas to find an acceptable and easy way to get my pictures out of the computor on to the copperplate.
I was seeking the feeling of etching. I tried the traditional photoetching and it was to complicated to me. The photopolymer-plate was to me a dead material. In the "ristonfilm" I found a live material that acted as an ethcing. And these three pictures was my first prints with this new material, and they had all the defects and strange effects I was seeking. (But
observe, that these pictures I´m showing here are done in the computor.
The prints looks a bit different because of the etching-effects.)
The theme I worked with at the course was signs, tattoos and marking of the body. For many people today tattoos is a beautiful way to decorate their bodies, but not too many yeas ago it was something to be ashamed for and a way to punish people. My women at the prints was showing their tattoed bodies at vaudevilles.
This spring 1998 am I working at the school with a special project: I am finding new ways to get big pictures out of the computor to prints. I´m working with riston-etching, litography, serigraphie (schablonprinting) and woodcarving. And it is really exciting; the computor gives me new idees and new ways of working in the printing workshop.
